CONCERTS in JULY
The Poulenc Trio is an American chamber music ensemble of oboe, bassoon and piano. This rare combination makes their third appearance on our Series. The Washington Post describes the Trio’s program, as “…sophisticated with near -effortless lightness and grace….”
Russian pianist, Ilya Yakushev, appeared on our Series in 2017 with cellist Thomas Mesa. He delighted our audience so much, he is now back for his first solo performance on Nantucket. The New York Times says, “Mr. Yakushev can do just about anything he wants.” Come check him out!
Greta Feeney, soprano, grew up on Nantucket, then left to sing with the San Francisco Opera for 15 years. Now Chair of the Vocal Department at Powers Music School in Concord, MA, she is joined by Barbara Podgurski, much loved at the Nantucket Community Music Center for a highly-anticipated first appearance on our series.
CONCERTS in AUGUST
PubliQuartet returns after wowing us in 2014. The Washington Post says, “a perfect encapsulation of today’s trends in chamber music.” They love to ‘jam’ on familiar quartet themes, but also play the originals with skill and grace.
Baritone, Thomas Glass, won the 2019 Metropolitan Opera National Auditions. Joined by his fiancée, Gabrielle Skinner, viola, and Kyle Naig, pianist, to perform the rare Opus 4 Trio composed by Charles Loeffler (1861-1935). Listen for yourself why Thomas Glass won!
The final concert is a two-piano duo featuring favorites Vivian Choi and Fei-Fei Dong. For the first time in 40 years, Adie McAuley’s newly re-built piano allows this unique performance to cap our 61st Season on Nantucket.
